China Resources Microelectronics Establishes National Power Semiconductor R&D Center
China Resources Microelectronics will expand investment in the establishment of a national-level power semiconductor R&D center, expand its wafer manufacturing capacity, and build an epitaxial wafer production base, helping boost the city¡¯s national power semiconductor base. China Resources Microelectronics will produce more than 100,000 8-inch wafers and 200,000 6-inch wafers.
China Resources Microelectronics is a high-tech company responsible for the investment, development, and management of microelectronics businesses of the China Resources Group. It focuses on analog and power semiconductors. Its business includes integrated circuit design, mask manufacturing, wafer fabrication, packaging testing, and discrete devices. Currently, it has 4 wafer 6 production lines, 2 packaging production lines, 1 mask production line, and 4 design companies. It is the only company with a complete semiconductor industry chain in China.
Chinese fabs are continuing to expand at a rate
There are about 100 semiconductor wafer production lines in operation in mainland China, including 9 in 12-inch wafer production lines, 19 in 8-inch wafer production lines, 40 in 6-inch wafer production lines, and about 16 in 5-inch wafer production lines.

It is understood that the world's top five suppliers of silicon wafers include Japanese-based Shin-Etsu (27% market share), Hi-Tech (SUMCO, market share of 26%), and Taiwan Global (17% market share). %), Germany Silitronic (13% market share), and South Korea LG (9% market share) account for 92% of global sales.
Although silicon wafer fabs in China have successively announced plans to expand production, the key production equipment for silicon wafers is in short supply, and it is now only one year before the next order can be delivered. If the lead time for trial production and certification is added, it will be almost two years. Can not see a significant capacity out.
